John Neumann was born on 26 Oct 1856 in Bethany, Germany . He died on 11 Dec 1946 in Farley, Dubuque, Iowa . He was buried in St. Clements Cemetery, Bankston, Dubuque, Iowa .

John Neumann Sr., 90, a retired farmer died at his home in Farley Wednesday afternoon, after an illness of 13 months. The body may be viewed at the Sanner funeral home, Farley, after 7 o’clock Thursday evening. The funeral will be held from the funeral home to St. Joseph’s church at 9:30
Saturday morning. Burial will be in St. Clement’s cemetery, Bankston.

Mr. Neumann was born at Bethany, Germany, on Oct. 26, 1856, and came to the United States and settled in Dubuque county when he was 18. He was married to Margaret Gansen on April 21, 1885, and following their marriage he engaged in farming near Bankston, where he lived until 24 years ago when he retired and moved to Farley.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Catherine) Ruden. Holy Cross, and Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth) Konzen, Farley; four sons, John. Matt, and Joe , all of Bankston, and William
Neumann, Holy Cross; and 31 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded by one daughter, Mrs. Peter (Mary) Ruden, two brothers, and two sisters.

John married Margaret Gansen daughter of Jacob Gansen on 21 Apr 1886 in Luxemburg, Dubuque, Iowa . Margaret was born on 21 Feb 1866 in Germany . She died on 24 May 1951 in rural Holy Cross, Dubuque, Iowa . She was buried in St. Clements Cemetery, Bankston, Dubuque, Iowa .
