Floyd Sabers, 90, of 17491 River Vista Drive, Dubuque, died Thursday morning, Feb. 24, 2011, at The Finley Hospital.

will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26th at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, with Rev. Gary Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25th at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 7:30.

He was born January 27, 1921, in New Vienna, Iowa, son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Ploessl) Sabers. He married Cecelia Ruden, Sept. 9, 1941. She preceded him in death Sept. 1976. He married Edith Glider, Aug. 27, 1977. She preceded him in death Jan. 8, 2001.
Floyd was employed at John Deere in the Foundry Department.

He enjoyed reading and fishing with his family. He was a BIG CUB fan. He was a member of Holy Ghost parish, and the United Automobile Workers Local 94.

Surviving are four sons, Bill (Judy) Sabers, Rick Sabers, Steve (Leann) Sabers, and Mike (Julie) Sabers, all of Dubuque; three daughters, Sandy Helbing, Juanita (Roger) Kremer, and Bonnie Breen, all of Dubuque; three step-sons, Larry (Sandy) Glider, Roger Glider, and Steve (Pat) Glider; 22 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren; great grandchildren; step great grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene (Darlene) Sabers, and John (Mary Ann) Sabers, both of Dubuque; and two sisters, Sylveria Ruden, of Dubuque, and Patricia (Gerald) Klosterman, of New Vienna, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, Judith and Janet; a grandson, Richard Sabers; 2 brothers, Roger and Marvin; a sister, Ruth Holl; a son-in-law, Harold Helbing; and brothers-in-law, Clarence, Louis, Jack, Larry and Nick Ruden and Ed Holl.

A special thank you to the staff at Ennoble Skilled Nursing and Rehab and to Chris and Lenore Kemp for all the things they did for dad.
