Walter M. "Dick" Loeffelholz, 77, of Dyersville, formerly of Earlville, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, in the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. and Rosary at 6 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Alfreida; three sons, Eric (Louise) of E a r l v i l l e , Dave (Jeanine) of Hopkinton and Dean (Sherry) of Earlville; five daughters, Shirley Stelken of Dyersville, Jane Loeffelholz of Manchester, Linda (Mike) Hillenmiller of Davenport, Judy (Mike) Recker of Earlville and Cathy (Steve) Lueck of Dyersville; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola (Joe) Engelken of Manchester and Norma (Paul) Tegeler of Dyersville; a brother, Ed (Joann) of Dyersville; and a sister-in-law, Nita Loeffelholz of Cudworth, Saskatchewan, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Art; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Loeffelholz.

A Walter M. Loeffelholz Memorial Fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
