LUXEMBURG, Iowa - Helen H. Deutmeyer, 84, of Luxemburg, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Guttenberg (Iowa) Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Luxemburg, with the Rev. John Ptacek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where the rosary society will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. There will also be a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on May 8, 1916, in New Vienna, daughter of George and Agatha (Meis) Loeffelholz. She married Lawrence Deutmeyer on Feb. 15, 1938, in Petersburg. Helen and her husband farmed near Luxemburg until 1976, when they moved to town. Mr. Deutmeyer died on June 19, 1982.

Helen's life was committed to her family, having raised her younger brothers and sisters after her parents died when she was 15. She raised her own eight children and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and its rosary society and the Luxemburg Quilters. She enjoyed volunteering as school librarian at RHCL School for 30 years, playing bingo, quilting and doing Seek-N-Finds.

Surviving are three sons, Marvin (Norma) Deutmeyer, of Dyersville, Jerry (Jan) Deutmeyer, of Dubuque, and Richard (Helen) Deutmeyer, of Luxemburg; four daughters, Mary (Don) Frommung, of Prairie du Sac, Wis., Dianne (Dennis) Duwe, of Luxemburg, Grace (Clete) Clemen, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Phyllis (Robert) Errthum, of Holy Cross; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy Loeffelholz, of Guttenberg, and Charles (Darlene) Loeffelholz, of Potosi, Wis.; and three sisters, Renilda Pasker, Esther Fischer and Rita Buhman, all of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Allen, in infancy, and Ralph; a son-in-law, Jim Oberbroeckling; a grandson, Kevin Errthum, in infancy; two brothers, Louis and Francis Loeffelholz; and a sister, Rosella Schulte.

Helen's family would like to thank the Guttenberg Care Center staff for their kindness and compassion shown to her during her stay.
