Interment: St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville, Iowa

Paul A. Lammers, 87, of Dyersville, Iowa died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa.

Friends may call from 2 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m., a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. and an American Legion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 137 and V.F.W. Post 7736. Honorary pallbearers will be Knights of Columbus Council 1734. Lectors will be Christina and Ashley Ludwig and giftbearers will be Teresa Coons, Alexia Lammers and Aiva Moore.
Pallbearers will be John, Jake, Blake Lammers, Brandon and Joe Ludwig and Chad Coons.

Paul was born December 6, 1923 in Dyersville, Iowa the son of Herman and Anna (Billmeyer) Lammers. He graduated from Xavier High School with the Class of 1942 and enlisted in the Marine Corps serving his country during WWII from 1944 – 1946 in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater. He married Delores Loesche on June 17, 1948, in Petersburg, Iowa.

Paul co-owned Lammers’ Hatchery with his brother, and he later owned and operated Paul’s Country Farm Store, White Front Feeds and Lammers Insurance Agency with his wife and three sons until retiring. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1734 and the Dubourg Assembly, American Legion Post 137 where he served as Past Commander and Adjutant, V.F.W. Post 7736, and 40 and 8 Voiture 632. He was also a Past President of the Dyersville Commercial Club Board. He enjoyed going to Arizona during the winter for 20+ years, and spending time with his family, friends and camping group.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delores, 3 sons: Rod (Kathy) Lammers of Dyersville, Bruce (Mary) Lammers and Brian (friend Tammy Waid-Link) Lammers both of Dubuque, grandchildren: Christina (Joe) Ludwig, John (Dawn) Lammers, Teresa (Chad) Coons, Jake (friend Amy Reed) Lammers; step-grandchildren: Matt Moore and Josh (Rasy) Moore; great grandchildren: Brandon and Ashley Ludwig, Alexia and Blake Lammers and Austin Coons; step-great grandchildren: Aiva, Jayden and Jasmine Moore and Kael Moore; and brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Lawrence (Maxine) Loesche, Bernice Gassmann, Sylvester “Red” (Alma) Loesche; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: William (Marie) Lammers, Dolores (Charles) Milbach, Arthur (Frances) Lammers, Herbert (Armella) Lammers, Germaine (Earl) March, James (Dorothy) Lammers; Brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Laurine (Clarence) Kruse, Andrew (Melaine) Loesche and Harold Gassmann.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimers Association.
