David N. Willenbring 1943-2002

NEW VIENNA, Iowa - David N. Willenbring, 59, of New Vienna, died suddenly Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1943, in Dyersville, son of Alphonse and Leona (Rausch) Willenbring.

He married Mary Pape on Oct. 22, 1966, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna. Together they farmed in the New Vienna area. Dave also worked at Lumber Specialties, Dyersville.

He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, its Holy Name Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Tri-County Sportsman's Club.

Dave saw the presence of God in the beauty of nature and all of God's creatures. We thank God for our time with Dave, a gentle man who gave so freely of himself to others. He always will be dearly loved.

Survivors are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Wendy Willenbring, and her husband, Doug Funke, of Manchester; a son, Wes, of Chicago; three sisters, Velma (Jerry) Ungs, of Dunedin, Fla., and Gladys Overman and Arlene Bell, both of Dyersville; and a brother, Duane (Ellen), of Luxemburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A David N. Willenbring Memorial Fund has been established.
