DEATH OF AN ESTEEMED LADY – The Galena Gazette, of last Thursday, contains the following article on the death of an esteemed lady, Mrs. Margaret Ryan, well and favorably known in this city. The Gazette says: On Monday morning, Mrs. Margaret Ryan, mother of Wm. and J. M. Ryan, of this city, died in Dubuque at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Faherty, at 11 o'clock yesterday, the coffin containing the body of the deceased lady arrived in this city and was conveyed to St. Michael's Church where the funeral services were conducted according to the ceremonies of the Catholic Church, and were held by Rev. W. H. Powers. The music was tenderly and well performed by Profs. Kempter and Schreiner. After the services, Father Powers delivered a brief address, in which he eloquently eulogized the memory of the departed, and paid a glowing tribute to her consistent character as a lady and as a Christian.
