Dubuque Herald – Jan. 4, 1874

DEATH OF DAVID DeLORIMIER – W. K. DeLorimier, Esq., received a telegram from Omaha Friday announcing the death of his brother, David DeLorimier in that city. The deceased was one of the first and earliest settlers in Dubuque, and his name is familiar to every old resident. He was born in the town of Lisbon, St. Lawrence County, New York, on the 8th of February, 1826, but consequently lacked but a month and seven days of reaching his 48th birthday at the time of his death. He came to Dubuque in 1842, and on attaining his majority in 1847, went to California working there in the mines until April 1853, when he returned to Dubuque and went into the livery business continuing in it several years, then sold out and went to the Montana Territory. He remained in Montana about a year and a half and returned to the Key City, made a second investment in the livery business and was burned out. In the fall of 1872, he went to Gorriene, Utah, and engaged as a dealer in cattle. Some business errands, not known to his friends in this city, called him to Omaha, and he died in the Sisters of Mercy Hospital there, of consumption on Friday morning. The remains will arrive in this city tonight.
