Joan L. Waddick, 91, of Dubuque, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Ennoble Manor.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Rev. Dan Knepper will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 6:30p.m.

Joan was born November 6, 1924 in Dubuque, the daughter of John and Catherine (Nesler) Kretz. She married James E. Waddick on August 24, 1946 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2006.

Prior to her marriage, Joan was employed at the Battery Factory. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of Century Fitness.

Joan’s joy in life was her family. She especially loved hosting holiday gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan is survived by two daughters, Jan Siegert of Platteville, WI and Linda (Joe) Buchheit of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Siegert, Sara (Glenn) Davis, Greg (Marin) Siegert, Doug (Paula) Siegert, Jamey (Jackie) Siegert, Joe Siegert, Ryan Siegert, Jeff Buchheit, Nicole (Dean) Bratsolias, and Jay (Kelly) Buchheit; 20 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Bernadette Vaccaro of Davenport; a step-sister Mary Zepeski; a special friend, Elle Siegert; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Clarence and John Kretz; her sisters Evelyn (Joe) Weiner, Catherine (John M.) Collins, and Marian (Laverne) Carpentier; a step-sister Eulalia (Richard) Unsen; and her in-laws Joe and Margaret Waddick, Clarence and Mary Zahina, TJ and Celeste Rawson (Gene Horch), Earl and Theresa Wiedner, Dorothy Waddick, Robert and Joan Waddick, and Charles Vaccaro.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Point Place and Ennoble Manor; and Dr. Ryan Stille and staff for their care of Joan.
