Dubuque Herald, Wednesday Morning, Sept. 14, 1865

SUICIDE OF FRITZ SEEGER – The Chicago papers of last evening contain notices of the suicide of F. Seeger, whose parents live in this city.

The Republican says:

The deceased was Fritz Seeger, a young man aged 23 years, who was born of German parents in Paris, France. His father and mother emigrated to this country about one year ago and are now living in Dubuque, Iowa. About four months ago Seeger came to this city and commenced boarding with Mr. Wildenberg. He was by trade a photographer, and failing to find employment became moody and sullen, often remarking that he was tired of life. His crippled condition [one leg much shorter than the other] seemed to annoy him much, and it was said that he has once before attempted to take his own life in Paris, but was prevented by timely interference on the part of his family. On Saturday morning he left his boarding house, and on Monday last the body was found floating in the lake outside of the breakwater, at the foot of Randolph Street.
