Lorraine A. Weiland

Lorraine A. Weiland, age 96, of Dubuque, IA, was called home peacefully at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at ManorCare Health Services. To honor Lorraine's life, funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016, at St. Anthony's Church, 1880 St. Ambrose Street, with Rev. Steven J. Rosonke officiating. To celebrate Lorraine's life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016, at 1880 St. Ambrose Street. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum. Behr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine was born on January 2, 1920, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Adam and Emma (Banworth) Tigges.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Arthur E. Weiland on October 10, 1942, in Sherrill, Iowa. They were blessed with 48 wonderful years and two lovely daughters together before he was called home on June 23, 1991.

Lorraine was a truly devoted and gifted homemaker who continually strived to nurture her family through each day. She was also employed at St. Joseph's Sanatorium and Mercy Hospital for several years until her eventual retirement. The family is quite confident that if they didn't play Bingo and cards in heaven, they are now! Lorraine was a dearly sweet and generous soul who always had a captivating story or a contagious laugh to share. We will miss her deeply and treasure forever all of the precious memories she leaves behind from her 96 year journey among us. She now rejoices in her long awaited heavenly reunion with her husband, Arthur and the rest of her family who've been called home ahead of her.

Brayden Duinink, Sophitia Zaffis and Cordelia Bush.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Arthur; three sons-in-law, Gregory Zigenfuss, Robert Bush and Rick Huntington; and her siblings, Florian (Henrietta) Tigges, Ozzie (Grace) Tigges, Ray (Ceil) Tigges, Sally Tigges, Louella (Al) Diesch and Martha (Vincent) Weiland.

A Lorraine A. Weiland memorial fund has been established.
