DUBUQUE TELEGRAPH – HERALD AND TIMES JOURNAL; October 12, 1930

George Weitzel passed away at the residence, 405 East 25th Street, at 4:20 o’clock at his residence, 402 East 25th Street after an illness of several month duration. Mr. Weitzel was born August 20, 1858 in this city. He was 72 years of age and resided in this city all of his life. He was a cigar maker by trade for many years, but during the last years prior to his illness he was employed as a night watchman at the Morrison Bros. plant.

In 1891 he was married to Freda Riepech, who survives him with two children, George Jr., and Mrs. John Enos, and four grandchildren. Mr. Wetzel was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and affiliated with Hustlers Camp, Modern Woodsman of America.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
