John Smith, Aged 83 Years,
Expires at Daughter’s Home
Saturday

John Smith, an aged citizen of Dubuque, died at 5 o’clock Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Michael Sweeney, 17 Dodge Street.

Mr. Smith was born in Germany 83 years ago and came to America when a young man, settling at Potosi, Wis., where he resided until his removal to Dubuque eight years ago. He was a life-long member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons and seven daughters – John, of East Dubuque, Jacob, of Montana, Mrs. Michael Sweeney, Mrs. E. Vyverberg, Mrs. H. Miller and Miss Carrie of Dubuque, Mrs. J. Stolemeyer, Mrs. F. Korkenbush and Mrs. E. Wickendall of Potosi.
The body will be taken to Potosi where the funeral will be held Monday.
