Ruby I. Ansel, 78, of ManorCare Health Services, formerly of 2671 Owen Court, died of natural causes, at 9:55 p.m. Friday, July, 28, 2000, at ManorCare.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Ansel worked at Flexsteel Industries Inc. as a seamstress for 13 years.
She was born on June 2, 1922, in Kingsland, Ark., daughter of Clabe and Nancy (Sparks) Oldner. She married Charles K. Ansel on Nov. 5, 1944, in Hattiesburg, Miss.; he died Sept. 30, 1974.
She enjoyed reading and sewing. She also enjoyed cooking, cake decorating and baking. She loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheila (Norman) Sharkey (Dorst), and Nancy M. Leslein, both of Dubuque; four sons, Charles "Mike" (Linda) Ansel, Dennis (Betty) Ansel, both of Dubuque, Steve (Carol) Ansel, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kevin (Kris) Ansel, of Dubuque; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nadine Perry, of Houston; a brother, Robert "R.C." (Abbey) Oldner, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a brother-in-law, Hugo (Mary) Ansel, of Dubuque; and three sisters-in-law, Emily (Jake) Stalder, of Portland, Ore., Genie Ansel, of Yuma, Ariz., and Betty Jane Oldner, of Dumas, Ark.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Jewell Parnell; two brothers, Bill and Louis Oldner; a brother-in-law, George Ansel; and a sister-in-law, Minnie Gierens.
A Ruby I. Ansel Memorial Fund has been established.
