MAQUOKETA, Iowa - James H. "Jake" McCloy, 85, of Maquoketa, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Maquoketa Care Center.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery in Bankston. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Jim McCloy was born on Sept. 28, 1927, in Sugar Creek, son of Orie and Anna (Banowetz) McCloy. He graduated from Delmar High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Shirley (Hannan) Lucas on June 25, 1976, in Bankston.

He farmed all his life in Delmar.

Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa and Knights of Columbus Council 8269 and was a fourth-degree member of Dubourg Assembly.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley, of Maquoketa; 11 children, Rick (Diane) Lucas, of Breda, Ron (Val) Lucas, of Bankston, Peggy (Bob) Jurkowski, of Bettendorf, Bob (Lynn) Lucas, of Worthington, Randy (Brenda) Lucas, of Quitman, Texas, Jeff (Joni) Lucas, of Bankston, Mike (Coyla) Lucas, of Delmar, Allen (Cindy) Lucas, of Newark, Ill., Dean (Karen) Lucas, of Manchester, Dale (Jenny) Lucas, of Grass Lake, Mich., and Jennifer (Jason) Billings, of Dubuque; 37 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Gerlach, of Delmar, and Mary Frondell, of Sabula; a brother, Joe (Madonna) McCloy, of Delmar; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Oberfoell, of Dubuque, and Arletta McCloy, of Miles.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Lucas; a son-in-law, Jerry Grillot; two brothers, Eugene and Bob (Jenny); a sister, Kate; two sisters-in-law, Betty Schmitt and Joan Breitbach; and two brothers-in-law, Kenny Gerlach and Dave Frondell.

Memorials are preferred.
