Mary M. Fitzgibbons, 91, of Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, formerly of Englewood, Fla., died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, New Melleray, rural Peosta, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., Dubuque.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1912, in Dubuque, daughter of John and Lisette (Knopp) Roth. She married Philip A. Fitzgibbons on May 1, 1941, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1988.

She volunteered all of her life. She was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She also was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, Grove City, Fla.

Mary wintered in Florida since 1972 and eventually moved there in 1986.

Surviving are a son, John (Marie) Fitzgibbons, of Dubuque; three grandchildren, four step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Paul J. Fitzgibbons, of Englewood; a sister-in-law, Sister Mary Philip Fitzgibbons, BVM, of Dubuque; nieces and nephews, Marilyn Krocheski, Thomas (Jan) Krocheski, Paul (Sue) Krocheski and Joe (Anna Marie) Krocheski; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray (Irene) Roth; three sisters, Sister Colette Marie Roth, OSF, Sister Hazel Marie Roth, CHM, and Muriel (Leo) Krocheski; three sisters-in-law, Angela Fitzgibbons, Sister Mary Melitta Fitzgibbons, BVM, and Marcella Fitzgibbons; a brother-in-law, Merlin (Bergie) Fitzgibbons; and a nephew, John Krocheski.

A Mary M. Fitzgibbons Memorial Fund has been established.
