Kathy Lynn Riedl, 44, a resident of Area Residential Care for 31 years, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Church of the Nativity with Monsignor James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1969, in Dubuque, daughter of John T. "Jack" and Ruth A. (Tucker) Riedl.

She graduated from Dubuque Hempstead High School in 1991. She worked at the ARC workshop and later with Life Choices at ARC.

She loved to travel, especially on trips to Adventure Land and Branson, Mo. She loved horses and music, especially the Beatles.

She is survived by her parents, Jack and Ruth; her sisters, Karen O'Brien, of Donahue, Iowa, Diane Deutmeyer, of Dubuque, Linda (Scott Ellis) Riedl, of Key West, Iowa; a niece, Karla Brennan; two nephews, Greg and Mike O'Brien; and her great-niece and nephew, Gemma and William Brennan.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Oliver and Frances Tucker, and John and Minnie Riedl; and a brother-in-law, Robert O'Brien.

Memorials in Kathy's memory may be given to Area Residential Care.

The family would like to thank everyone involved with ARC for making Kathy part of their family and for all their friendship and care.
