LUXEMBURG, Iowa -- Edward L. Lake, 72, of Dubuque, formerly of Luxemburg, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Sunnycrest Manor, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Luxemburg, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville.

Ed was born on March 22, 1939, in Luxemburg, son of Edward W. and Agatha (Clemen) Lake. He lived at Sunnycrest Manor for many years. Throughout those years, he made many friends with both the staff and residents and was loved by all.

Ed always showed an interest in farming. He enjoyed watching baseball games on TV, especially his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Some of his favorites were mashed potatoes, cherry pie and a bottle of Coke.

Surviving are five sisters, Alice Mae (Ed) Schieltz and Grace Marie (Jerry) Schieltz, both of Luxemburg, Joann Besler, of Hopkinton, Esther Klostermann, of Dyersville, and Gladys (Bob) Elgin, of Bankston; a sister-in-law, Wilma Lake, of Dyersville; 32 beloved nieces and nephews; and his family from Sunnycrest Manor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Agatha Lake; a brother, James Lake; two brothers-in-law, William Besler and Floyd Klostermann; and two nephews: Steven Besler and Joseph Lake.
