Sister Benno Becker, OP, 96, of St. Dominic Villa, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, June 29, 1998, at the villa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wis., with burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Benno was a community housekeeper for 57 years. She served at Dominican convents in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 1985, she came to the Dominican Motherhouse for community life, and since 1992, has resided at St. Dominic Villa in Dubuque.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1901, in Argentina, South America, daughter of John and Mary Catherine (Baron) Becker.

She made her first profession of religious vows on Aug. 5, 1928.

Surviving are a brother, Peter Becker, of Middleburg, Ohio; a sister, Sister Catherine Becker, OP, of St. Dominic Villa; a sister-in-law, Elsie Becker, of Ridgefield, Minn.; and the Dominican Sisters, with whom she shared life for 70 years.

Memorials may be given to the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters.
