Mrs. Dorris Board Hill, 84, of Muncie, Ind., passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007, in her home following an extended illness. No public services; private observances will take place. Burial will be in the family plot in Iowa.

Born in 1923 in Cascade, Iowa, she graduated from Monticello (Iowa) High School in 1939 and Cornell College, Mount Vernon, in 1943. She taught vocal music at Elkader (Iowa) High School and was the interlibrary loan librarian at the University of Iowa Library. In 1956, Dorris came to Muncie, Ind., where she was assistant in bibliography at the Ball State University Library. She was a former member of Faculty Wives at Ball State University, and Matinee Musicale, Second Masterworks Chorale.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Colleen Boyarko of New Mexico and Benjamin Griffith of Colorado; and one sister, the Rev. Mildred Board Grubbs of Tupelo, Miss.

Dorris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Robert E. Hill Jr.; one daughter, Pamela H. Griffith; and one son, Gregory J. Hill.
