Alice Barbara Deckert, 88, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of Windsor Park, 801 Davis St., and 1640 Lawndale, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Ennoble Manor.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ, 1795 Jackson St. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport, Ill. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., and after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1913, in Freeport, daughter of Royal and Anna Bloom.

She was born and raised in Freeport. She moved to Dubuque in 1930 and married Charles J. Deckert on May 9, 1936; he died in 1994.

She was a third-generation lifetime member of Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. Singing brought her true joy along with her love for music and piano.

Surviving are sons, John (Bonita) Deckert, of Raleigh, N.C.; James (Judy) Deckert, of St. Donatus, Iowa, Richard (Kathy) Deckert of Union, Ore., Frederick (Linda) Deckert, of Gardner, Mass.; a brother, Henry (Dena) Bloom, of Freeport; sisters, Marie MacKenzie and Lona Kinney, of Freeport; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Oswald, of Dubuque; and a special friend, Janice Brock, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ Music Fund.
