Verna Lucille Bradley, 82, of 2591 Crissy Dr., died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at home.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2659 Kennedy Road. Private burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born on Oct. 16, 1927, in Cuba City, Wis., daughter of Charles and Hazel (Marvin) Cook. She resided in Cuba City until moving to Dubuque in the late 1940s. She married William C. Bradley on Aug. 5, 1950.

She was a licensed nurse practitioner for 25 years at Mercy Medical Center, retiring in 1989.

Verna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was happy to help anyone in need. She enjoyed sewing, camping and winters in Florida.

Surviving are her husband, William, of Dubuque; her children, John (Mary Beyer) Bradley, of Dubuque, James (Cindy Solberg) Bradley, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Thomas (Barbie Kluesner) Bradley, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Angela (Mike Hoffman) Basten, Anthony Bradley, Matthew and Derek Bradley, Natalie (Ben Shireman) Bradley, Tyler (Calsey) Bradley and Sam, Christian, Maddie and Drew Bradley; and her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Cook, of Florida, and Donna Cook, of Lancaster, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Donald Cook; and two sisters, Ruth Bailey and Hazel Case.

In lieu of flowers, a Verna Lucille Bradley Memorial Fund has been established.

The Bradley family wishes to extend a special thank-you to doctors John Whalen, Warren Gall and Timothy Martin and their wonderful staffs; the ER and ICU nurses and staff at the Finley Hospital; the ICU and Cardiac Unit staffs at Mercy Medical Center; Hospice of Dubuque and Home Instead staffs for their care and support.
