Emmy W. Blakeman, 92, of Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Private family services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1913, in Heidelberg, Germany, daughter of Wilhelm and Emma (Fichtner) Schweitzer.

Emmy came to the United States in 1956. She married Leroy Blakeman on Oct. 8 of that same year in Port Washington, Long Island, N.Y.

Surviving are her husband, Leroy, of Dubuque; a daughter, Sylvia (Fred) Sullivan, of Toronto, Canada; a son, Mike (Bev) Schweitzer, of Detroit; three grandchildren, Carl, Eric and Phillip; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers

Emmy's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center and Dr. William Dall for their care and support.
