Molanda Silzer Rites Tuesday

Services for Miss Molanda Silzer, 78, retired Des Moines registered nurse, will be 1 p.m. Tueday at Dunn’s Funera Home. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery.

Miss Silzer died Saturday of cancer at Clarinda after an illness of five months. She was born in Dubuque and was educated in the public schools and Finley Hospital Nurses Training School there.

She came to Des Moines in 1917 and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church here, and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Iowa State Registered Nurses Association and served as its president in 1933.

Survivors include her brother, Gus U. Silzer of Sioux City, and several nieces and nephews.
