WILLIAM CONRAD

William Conrad, 83, died at his home, 2665 Jackson Street, Friday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The body is now at the Egelhof Funeral Home whee the funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Mr. Conrad was born in East Dubuque Ill. on March 2, 1860, the eldest son of Charles and Sophia Conrad. When about 18 years of age, he moved to Dubuque, his parents having moved to Burlington, Kans. On Oct. 25, 1883 he was married to Caroline M. Silzer, who preceded him in death about 5 years ago.

He was associated with Dubuque wholesale hardware firms in various capacities for 56 years, and retired about 13 years ago. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Amelia K. Conrad; one son, Frederick G. Conrad, both of Dubuque; a brother, Edward Conrad, Mission Kans; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister, and four brothers.
