Sister Mary Paschal Cunningham, PBVM, 86, of Mount Loretto Convent, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Mount Loretto.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Loretto. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Mount Loretto, where there will be a wake service at 6 p.m. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1915, in Dougherty, Iowa, daughter of James and Susan (Moss) Cunningham.

She graduated from St. Columbkille's High School in Dubuque, and then Loras College, where she majored in music.

Sister Paschal entered the Sisters of the Presentation in June 1932, and professed her Perpetual Vows on Feb. 5, 1938.

Her music-teaching career, spanned 55 years, and took her to elementary schools in Emerson, Neb.; Monticello, Minn.; and Algona, Lawler, Key West, Fairbank, Waukon, Dougherty, Storm Lake, Manly and Sheldon, Iowa. She retired to Mount Loretto Convent in 1990, where she was able to devote more time to her favorite hobbies, which included walking, cooking, playing the piano and organ and playing bingo. While at Mount Loretto, she participated in community service and prayer until her death.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Fran Klatt and Mrs. Rose Gaubatz; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of the Presentation, with whom she shared her life for 69 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Carl, Leo, John and Nicholas; and four sisters, Mrs. Mayme Backer, Mrs. Agnes Hinch, Mrs. Gladys Lugar and Mrs. Gert Hart.
