MONTICELLO, Iowa - Gilbert Recker, 83, of Monticello, died Monday, July 26, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born in Sand Springs, son of Henry and Rose (Willenborg) Recker.

He married Katherine Hosch on Feb. 14, 1938, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade. Together they farmed in the Sand Springs area until they retired and moved to Cascade in 1981. Mrs. Recker died in 1984. He moved to Monticello in 1985.

Surviving are three daughters, Lynn (Bob) Rollinger, of Sand Springs, Sally (William) Birmingham, of Cedar Rapids, and Beth (Patrick) Paul, of Solon; two sons, Jack (Pam) Recker, of Sand Springs, and Dan (Margie) Recker, of Manchester; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie (Joseph) Moorman, of Manchester; four brothers, Florian Recker, of Dubuque, Irvin (Anna) Recker and Ernest (Irene) Recker, of Monticello, and Jerry (Pearl) Recker, of Dyersville; and a sister-in-law, Mary Hosch, of Cascade.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy, and a brother, Raymond.
