EARLVILLE, Iowa - Ronald R. "Ron" Kramer, 56, of Freeport, Ill., formerly of Earlville, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Meriter Hospital, Madison, Wis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Freeport, with the Rev. John Cahill officiating. Burial will be Saturday in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport, where there will be a scripture wake service at 1 p.m.

Friends also may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl, of St. Matthias Catholic Church, Cascade, officiating.

Mr. Kramer worked for the Freeport Police Department from Sept. 1966 until retiring in 1991. He also was the head of security at Freeport Memorial Hospital for 20 years, and he worked at the Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1941, in Earlville, son of Robert L. and Arlene (Coleman) Kramer. He married Karolyn Manternach on May 28, 1966, in Cascade.

He was an Air Force veteran. He also was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Goldwing Road Riders Association, the Moose Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Police Pension Board.

Surviving are his wife, Karolyn Kramer, of Freeport; a son, Shaun Kramer, of Freeport; two daughters, Robin (Dan) Reif, of Mount Morris, Ill., and Jody Kramer, of Freeport; two grandchildren, Kyle and T.J. Reif, of Mount Morris; his mother, Arlene Kramer, of Earlville; three brothers, Randy (Laurie) Kramer, of Delhi, Tom (Kris) Kramer, of Earlville, Don (Dianne) Kramer, of Dyersville; and a sister, Bev (Dasil) Darrow, of Osage.
