Mrs. Simpson was born May 8, 1861 at Rockdale, a daughter of the late Robert and Hannah Waller, early settlers at Rockdale. She was married Oct. 5, 1879, to John R. Simpson, who died in 1924.

Surviving is one daughter Miss Marie B. Simpson, of Dubuque: three grandchildren, Miss Betty McCaffrie, of Dubuque, Robert F. McCaffrie, of Ft. Dodge, Ia., and John F. McCaffrie , of Bolulder, Colo., three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Richard B. Waller, of Dubuque.

She was preceded by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanette McCaffrie, and two sons; Robert W. and Richard M. Waller.
