Miss Lavina P. Schmitt, treasurer of the Dubuque Packing Company, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann Mortuary, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. V. Foley, pastor, will offer the Requiem High Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She was born in Dubuque, daughter of Chris and Mary Foltzer Schmitt and resided in Dubuque all her life.

She was associated with the meat packing business all of her life, first with her father in the Schmitt Packing Co., and later with the Dubuque Packing Co. She has been treasurer of the Dubuque Packing Company since its inception.

Surviving is one sister, Miss Tillie E. Schmitt, Dubuque.

Memorials: St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Dubuque Cancer Fund.
