Mrs. Eva Scherrer, one of Dubuque's oldest residents, crossed the dark water to the great unknown beyond yesterday afternoon about 4 o'clock.

She was born in Germany 84 years ago, but had been a resident of Dubuque for forty years. Her husband died about five years ago, and she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Jacobi, and two sons, Frank, of this city and Louis, of Minneapolis.

She was a woman, who, during her long residence here, made many lifelong friends by her generous disposition and many kind acts. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from her daughters residence, 947 Clay Street, to the Holy Ghost Church. The internment will be in St. Mary's cemetery will be private.
