OLD SETTLER SUCCUMBS
Alois Frommalt Expires at His Home Friday Morning at Advanced Age

Alois Frommelt, a resident of Dubuque for half a century, passed away at the family residence, 2286 Couler avenue, at 5:30 o'clock Friday morning at the venerable age of 83 years. He had been in failing health for about a year and his death was not unexpected.

Mr. Frommelt was born in Baltzors, Germany, in he year 1833, coming to Dubuque fifty years ago, where he since made his home. For many years he followed the occupation of stone contractor and was a first class workman. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church and his long and useful life was an equally honest one. He was a member of the Pius Alphonsus and the Saint Vincent de Paul societies and was always ready to advance the interest of either one.

Surviving him are his widow and eight children, Mrs. Katie Hammond of Chicago; Mrs. William Grode of Milwaukee; Albert of California; Alois of Guttenberg; Mrs. Felix Hasler, Mrs. Frank Scherr, Ludwig and Frank of Dubuque, all of whom were at his bedside when he passed away, except his son, Albert.
