Last Rites Held For
Corp. Joseph Nelson

The funeral of Corp. Joseph C. Nelson of Rock Island, Ill., a native of Dubuque, was held Tuesday morning from the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond M. Nelson, Rock Island; to Sacred Heart Church at 9 o’clock. The body was placed in a vault in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A firing squad from the Rock Island Arsenal took part in the ceremonies at the arsenal.

Corp. Nelson was born in Dubuque, Sept. 10, 1923, and went to Rock Island with his parents when he was two years old. He was stationed with the Army Air Forces in Great Falls, Mont., and died Aug. 4 from injuries suffered in the line of duty.
