CASCADE, Iowa - Margaret A. Bakey, 84, of Cascade, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1921, on the family farm in Whitewater Township, Cascade, daughter of Joseph and Angeline (Klein) McAllister. She married Joseph Bakey on June 21, 1941, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade.

She received her education in the rural schools and St. Mary's School, Cascade.

In her younger years, Margaret did housework and operated a coffee shop in California, and in her later years, she worked at Club 528, in Cascade, as a cook. She also cooked for the Cascade Senior Citizen's.

She was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade.

Margaret loved to dance. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

She loved her family, children and grandchildren and was always ready for a good laugh with friends and relatives. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are three children, Bill Bakey, Gloria "Penny" (Gary) Gavin and Mike (Ena) Bakey, all of Cascade; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, William and Jessica Bakey, Karen (Todd) Bergfeld, Keith, and Kimberly Gavin and Breena Bakey; a great-grandchild, Chelsea; five sisters, Irene Huber and Alberta (Hal) VanNest, both of Cedar Rapids, Sister Dolores McAllister, OSF, of Dubuque, Rita (Jerry) Hoffman, of Greendale, and Cecelia (Joe) Koob, of Monticello; three brothers, Joe (Marge) McAllister Jr., of Palmetto, Fla., Robert (Margie) McAllister, of Cascade, and Charles (Bev) McAllister, of Marion; three sisters-in-law, Flo McAllister, of Cedar Rapids, Myrtle McAllister, of Dubuque, and Marlene McAllister, of Cascade; and a brother-in-law, Robert Minton, of Belleview, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Bakey, on June 21, 1941; four children, Diane, Ronald, Dolores and David; a grandson, Kraig Gavin; two sisters, Loretta and Kathleen; four brothers, James, Donald, Paul, and Thomas McAllister; a sister-in-law, Cecelia Mc- Allister; and a brother-in-law, Walter Huber.

A Margaret A. Bakey Memorial Fund has been established.
