A GOOD MAN GONE
~
After a lingering illness of many months, death at last has relieved John B. Foltzer of his suffering. His disease was consumption. The vital spark died yesterday morning at 7:42 o'clock, and a good man has passed away at the age of 44 lacking a few months.

Mr. Foltzer was born in Treeleugen, France, and came to his adopted country 22 years ago, after remaining three years in Cincinnati he settled in Dubuque, where after a residence of 19 years he has won the respect of the public and endeared himself to a large number of friends for his upright conduct, honest dealing and social nature.

Five years ago he filled the office of Justice of the Peace. The principal occupation of the deceased was a saloon keeper, and for many years his place of business was on the corner of Jackson and 12th streets. A year or more ago he moved into a brick house he had erected on White and 12th Streets with the savings of his hard earnings. He leaves a wife and three children, two of the latter women grown, and the other a child of seven.

Mr. Foltzer was a member of the Dubuque Lodge of Old Fellows , which body will take charge of the remains for burial tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
