Was Found Dead in Bed by Neighbors at 9 O'Clock Sunday Morning-
Old Lady Lived Alone and Had Been Ailing For Sometime -
Coroner Bonnett Head Inquest
~
Mrs. Catherine Doran, old old lady who resided alone on Rush Street, was found dead in bed at 9 o'clock Sunday morning. She had been ailing for sometime, but the neighbors were of the opinion that there was no immediate danger. Saturday night some friends called on her and she seemed no worse than of late. For many years it has been customary with her to arise at an early hour on Sunday morning, and this the neighbors were aware of Sunday morning, Mrs. Lynn and Mrs. Flynn, neighbors, noticed that there was no sigh of life at Mrs. Doran's house, and, becoming alarmed they went to the house and knocked on the door, which they found locked. They then called two young men who were passing by, and asked them to force open the door. This they succeeded in doing, and, upon entering, found Mrs. Doran cold in death. The old lady appeared as if sleeping, and had a complacent smile on her features.

Coroner Bennett was notified and took charge of the remains. A post mortem examination, which was held by Drs. Slattery and Boothby, developed the fact that death was the result of heart trouble. The doctors are of the opinion that the old lady had been dead for seven or eight hours before she was found.

She is survived by her son, Hugh, who returned to the city Sunday; Michael, captain of a fire company in Spokane, Wash., James of La Cross, Wis., Frank of Washington state, and Patrick of Montana. The funeral will be held when Michael Doran arrives.
