FARLEY, Iowa - Mabel R. Schute, 99, of 202 Fifth St. SE, Farley, died at 2:59 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1904, in Placid, rural Epworth, daughter of Thomas and Rose (Delaney) Coyle.
She received her education at St. Raphael's School, Dubuque. She was a bookkeeper prior to her marriage.
She married Ray H. Schute on April 5, 1934, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1992. She and her husband farmed in the rural Farley area until their retirement.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are four children, Suzanne (Norbert) Hemesath, of Cedar Rapids, Sandra Kupensky, of Darien, Ill., and Tom Schute and Steve Schute, both of Farley; seven grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Hemesath, Timothy Hemesath, Lisa (Dave) George, Jill (Pete) Kovatsis, Lori Hemesath, Amy (Chris) Schroeder and Brenda (Norman) Murdock; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Tom Kupensky; a sister, Frances Coyle; and two sisters in infancy, Mary and Roseanna.
