Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA) - Thursday, August 15, 2002

Mrs. Lucille C. Rolwes, 84, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 2920 Oak Crest Drive, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a Holy Ghost Catholic Church Parish Christian wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on April 6, 1918, in Sherrill, Iowa, daughter of George and Dorothea (Nauman) Schueller. On April 19, 1939, she married Norbert J. Rolwes at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill; he passed away on Aug. 6, 2001.

As a young lady, she worked at the former Dubuque Battery Factory, and after marrying, she and her husband farmed in the North Buena Vista, Iowa, area. After she and her husband left the farm and moved to Dubuque, she worked at the Dubuque Stamping Co. prior to retiring.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and its rosary society, the Holy Ghost funeral choir, the Holy Ghost Quilting Club and the Holy Ghost Senior Citizens Club.

She loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed her quilting, caring for her flowers and playing cards.

Her loving care of her husband, Norbert, allowed their companionship to remain independent well into their advanced age, even in the adversity of his failing health.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol (Robert) Wehling, of Anamosa, Iowa, and Kathleen (Richard) Schmitt, of Peosta, Iowa; two sons, Kenneth (Billie Jean) Rolwes and Dennis (Deb) Rolwes, both of Dubuque; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Cummer and Mildred "Millie" Meyer, both of Dubuque; a brother, Eldon (Eleanor) Schueller, of Dubuque; and two sisters-in-law, Marcella Schueller and Irene Schueller, both of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Norbert, Fritz and George Schueller Jr.

A Lucille C. Rolwes Memorial Fund has been established by her family.

The family wishes to thank the 2nd floor nursing staff of Stonehill Care Center for the loving care extended to Lucille while a resident.
