FARLEY, Iowa - Mona M. Elliott, 79, 302 Third Ave. N.W., Farley, died at 2:25 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 1998, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas and parish rosary at 4 p.m., a wake service at 5 p.m., a Farley American Legion Auxiliary service at 6:30 p.m. and an American Legion service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Elliott was a teacher's aide for the Western Dubuque Schools until her retirement.

She was born on April 28, 1919, in Dyersville, daughter of Nicholas J. and Mary (Henkels) Ernster. She married Raymond T. Elliott on Oct. 16, 1940, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville; he died Nov. 20, 1980.

She received her education at St. Francis Xavier School, Dyersville. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and its altar and rosary society. She also was a member of the Farley American Legion Auxiliary and the Farley Catholic Daughters of the Americas Presentation Court 1460.

Surviving are a son, Mike (Vi) Elliott, of Dubuque; two daughters, Patty (Larry) O'Meara, of Colesburg, and Mary Beth Elliott, of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Brian, Michael, Elizabeth, John, Robert and Kaity Elliott, and Lori and Matt O'Meara; two great-grandchildren, Kyristen and Olivia; and three sisters, Charlotte McInerney and Mrs. Merle (Dorothy) Hunt, both of Dubuque, and Mrs. Mary Valente, of San Pablo, Calif.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy; two sisters, Virginia Kean and Marion Sharp; and three brothers, John, Jerome and Robert Ernster.

A Mona M. Elliott Memorial Fund has been established.
