Death of Mrs. Dunn of Prairie Creek.

Mrs. Margaret M. L. Dunn, mother of James J. Dunn, county clerk, died at the residence of her son William Dunn in Prairie Creek township on Wednesday, Sept 24th, 1890.

Mrs. Margaret M. L. Dunn was born in Ireland, Feb. 7, 1809. She was married to Bernard E. Dunn in 1834, after which they came to America, locating in New Orleans. In 1847 she came to Dubuque. Her husband spent his summers here and his winters in New Orleans, where he died in 1852, leaving a widow and seven children, Peter K. Dunn, now of Coryelle, Texas; Mrs. M. Moore, of Jones county, Iowa, Mrs. J.P. Phillips and Mr. Wm. Dunn, of Bernard, Iowa, Mrs. P. Marony, of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. John P. Williams and James J. Dunn of Dubuque. Mrs. Dunn had reached the great age of 81 years. Her life had been an exemplary one, devoted to her children; a true Christian woman and highly esteemed by her neighbor's and all who made her acquaintance. The funeral took place at St. Patrick's church on Friday and was largely attended. The Rev. Father Clabby of Burn's Settlement, the Rev. Father Convery of Temple Hill, and Rev. Father Kelly, pastor of St. Patrick's church, and Rev. Father McGauran officiated. The pall bearers were Hon. D. O'Brien, James Conlin, Sr., Benjamin Cook, John Finnegan, Wm., Jess and M. Williams.
