Epworth, Ia., Oct. 11 - Word was received Friday night of the death of Mrs. Kathryn Leo Roberts Cruikshank, wife of Ocie Cruikshank at her home in Glen Haven, Minn., after an illness of two months.

Mrs. Cruikshank was born June 1, 1885, in Bruel county, S.D., and was the second daughter of Mrs. Kate Roberts of Epworth. Her father, Robert Roberts, for many years a restaurant and confectionery store keeper died several years ago.

Mrs. Cruikshank's girlhood was spent in Epworth and her musical career began at the seminary. Later she studied under W.H. Pontius, late of Dubuque, and under Chicago teachers, where she also finished a course in public school music. She taught this in Manning, West Virginia schools, and later conducted studios in Chicago and Minneapolis, where she had children as pupils in voice and piano.

Mrs. Cruikshank was quite well known in concert and church musical circles, as she travelled a number of years with the Schubert Concert company of Chicago, later heading a company of her own, known as the Kathryn Leo Roberts company. She had held soloist positions in a number of churches in Minneapolis. Her voice was a contralto of wide range.

Mr. and Mrs. Cruikshank were married at Epworth Sept. 29, 1923, and had since resided in Minneapolis and Glen Haven. On their visits to Epworth, Mrs. Cruikshank had often sung at M.E. church services. She was a member of the Sixth church of Christ Scientist of Minneapolis.

Surviving Mrs. Cruikshank are her husband, her mother, Mrs. Kate Roberts of Epworth, her sisters, Mrs. Lillian Maxwell, Epworth, and Mrs. Mae Lamb of Roblin, Man., Canada, and one brother, Dr. Wilrad Roberts, Epworth.

Funeral services will be held in Dubuque.

The body will arrive here this morning and will lie in state at the Haudenshield funeral home until Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock when services will be conducted. Interment will be made in Linwood cemetery.
