WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Magdalen A. Schockemoehl, 83, of 2749 230th Ave., Worthington, died at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m., and a St. Paul's Altar and Rosary Society rosary at 5 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 6, 1920, in Dyersville, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Rolfes) Kronlage.

She received her education in the St. Francis Schools in Dyersville.

She married Adrian Wolfe on May 30, 1945, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Dyersville; he preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1961. She later married Bill Schockemoehl on Feb. 22, 1966, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington.

She was a member of St. Paul's Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society, was an active participant in the Social Concern Committee. She also was a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a frequent Christian Experience Weekend speaker and a former 4-H leader for the Handy Helpers.

Magdalen enjoyed doing arts and craft projects, music, bowling, sewing and gardening. She was very well known for her pickle preserves.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Bill Schockemoehl, of Worthington; five children, Loras (Susan) Wolfe, of Worthington, John "Jack" (Sharon) Wolfe, of Farley, Jan (Harry) Soppe, of Bedford, Texas, Ellen (Ron) Hartman, of Dubuque, and Geri (Frank) Boesen, of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren, Paula (Curt) Lammers, Lisa (Ted) Snitker, Dana (Rich) Schmidt, Jason (Peggy) Wolfe, Aaron (Megan) Wolfe, Joe Wolfe, Jeff (Michelle) Wolfe, Angela Wolfe, Matt Wolfe, Michele (Tim) Stopper, Clint (Carrie) Soppe, Travis Soppe, Greg Hartman, Brian Hartman, Holly Hartman and Ben Boesen; six great-grandchildren, Madison and Mitchell Snitker, Olivia and Georgia Wolfe and Ryan and Lauren Stopper; two brothers, Joe (Verna) Kronlage and Art Kronlage, both of Dyersville; two sisters-in-law, Marie Kronlage, of Farley, and Mabel Kronlage, of Monticello; and a special friend, Deb Rahe, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Louis Kronlage; a sister, Marie Rahe; a brother-in-law, Leo Rahe; and a sister-in-law, Betty Kronlage.

A Magdalen A. Schockemoehl Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may also be given to the Alzheimer's Association.

The family of Magdalen would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, the staff of Shady Rest Care Center and Rahe of Hope for all the wonderful kindness and care given to Mag and our family.
