Brant Kaune

Brant Kaune, 54, of Coupland, Texas, formerly of Dubuque, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2006.

A memorial service celebrating Brant's life was held Aug. 1 in Coupland. Local memorial services will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

Mr. Kaune worked in the construction industry for much of his time in Texas, and was most recently employed by Austin Community College as a maintenance technician at the Northridge Campus.

He was born on March 24, 1952, in Dubuque, son of Rost and Jane Kaune. He married Jan Schadle on Sept. 25, 1982, in Dubuque.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1970. He later relocated to Texas in 1982.

Brant was a one-in-a-million husband, a caring father, a favorite grandpa and devoted son and brother.

Surviving are his wife, Jan (Schadle) Kaune of Coupland; a son, Jeremy (Brooke) Kaune and 3 darling granddaughters of McGregor, Iowa; his parents, Rost, Sr. and Jane Kaune of Austin, Texas, formerly of Dubuque; 6 brothers, Rost, Jr. (Lynn) Kaune of Austin, Paul (Joanne) Kaune of Dover, Pa., Mark (Deane) Kaune of Grove Town, Ga., Scott (Nancy) Kaune of Gales Ferry, Conn., Craig Kaune of Dubuque and Andy (Jenny) Kaune of Phoenix; and 2 sisters, Tracy (Roy) Sosa of Austin and Penny (Robert) Groat of Fairview, N. C. He was dearly loved by his in-laws, Don and Lori Schadle of Dubuque; 2 brothers-in-law, Don, Jr. and Steve (Amy) of Dubuque; 3 sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Brian) Thuesen of Minneapolis, Deena (John) Rang of Dubuque and Amy (Mike) Schiers of Fredrick, Colo.; many nieces and nephews; a close family friend, Juan; and many other friends that will miss his humor and gentleness
