DIED - At New Orleans, November, 1861*, James H. Webb, aged 62 years. Mr. Webb was well known in this city, where he resided for 14 years previous to his death.

He left here in the fall of 1860, and went into the produce and commission business in New Orleans. When the war broke out it stopped his shipments from the north, and he engaged in the harness and saddle business with one Mr. Plumb, in that city.

His friends and relatives had not heard from him or of his decease until Mr. J.N. Hill, of the firm of Burton, Hill & Co., who has just returned from New Orleans, communicated the above facts to them. Mr. Hill says that Mr. Webb was highly respected by all who knew him at the time of his death, and all those engaged in his business in the city attended the funeral in procession.

Mr. Webb left a wife and two children to mourn his loss, one of whom is the wife of Geo. W. Burton, Esq. They have suffered in consequence of not having any knowledge of his whereabouts for some 5 years. He died with apoplexy, as he went to bed apparently in good health, and was found dead in the morning.

Peace to his ashes.

*I am pretty sure that the date of death given in the obit is November 1861, but interested researchers should confirm that date...sf
