Lindsey Ann (Doran) Drake (1957 - 2011)

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Lindsey A. Drake, 54, was conducted by Pastor Donna Ewert on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan. Inurnment was in the Harlan Cemetery. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, was in charge of the arrangements.

Lindsey Ann Drake, the daughter of Arthur David and Jean Marilyn Christensen Doran, was born March 24, 1957, in Harlan and died April 8, 2011, at her home in Audubon at the age of 54 years and 14 days.

Lindsey was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan. She attended Harlan Community Schools graduating from the Harlan High School with the Class of 1975. She later took classes at the American Institute of Business.

On July 19, 1975, she was united in marriage to Gregory Drake at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan. Two daughters Kristina and Karrie were born to this union.

Lindsey and Greg moved east of Hamlin where they operated their farm. Lindsey was a homemaker for a few years while the girls were young and later was employed as a bookkeeper at the United Building Center Lumber Yard in Audubon. She then worked at the Audubon Wholesale Vet and Supply for several years. Since 1994 she has been employed as an administrative assistant/manager at Agriland Farm Service south of Audubon.

Lindsey was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan. She enjoyed boating and fishing at Lake Okoboji, relaxing in the sun, and riding motorcycles. Lindsey was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends.

Lindsey was preceded in death by her father Arthur D. Doran and her grandparents.
Survivors include her daughters Kristina Mary Drake of Johnston, and Karrie Ann Drake of Des Moines; her mother Jean Doran of Omaha, Neb.; her sister Kristen and husband Jim Halberslaben and their son Art Doran Halberslaben all of Omaha; her brother Chuck and wife Karol Doran of Rockford, Ill.; other relatives and many friends.
