Elgin Echo, Elgin, Iowa, Thursday, 27 August 1908.

Mrs. F. H. Finke Dead.

Monday morning our fellow townsman received the sad message that his mother, Mrs. Finke, had passed away at her home in Dubuque. Her last illness dates back about two months ago when she was taken sick, since which time, although not entirely bedfast, she has been confined to the house, and her passing was gradual, growing weaker and weaker until she paid natures last great debt. Mrs. Finke was one of Dubuque's early settlers having commenced her residence there in 1856 and for over a half a century she has resided in the river city. She was a lady of many sterling qualities greatly beloved by all who knew her and a favorite with both old and young. Her husband preceded her to the tomb. One son, W. H. Finke of our city, and two daughters, both of whom reside in Dubuque, besides many relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of a kind mother and friend. W. H. Finke left for Dubuque Tuesday where on Wednesday he attended the funeral services.
