Florian B. Recker, 91, of Dyersville, Iowa, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque paid of natural causes. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial: St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington.

Florian was born April 28, 1911, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Henry and Rose (Willenborg) Recker. He married Helen Hirtz on Aug. 11, 1942, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. They farmed in the Sand Springs area until their retirement in 1975, when they moved to Dyersville. Florian was an inventor whose love of farming spawned many farm-related inventions.

He enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Richard (Mary Ann) Recker of Earlville, Robert (Kay) Recker of Waterloo and Herbert (Mary) Recker of Dyersville; a daughter, Rosann (David) Buchheit, and a daughter-in-law, Joan Recker, both of Dyersville; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernie (Irene) of Monticello, Irvin of Monticello and Jerry (Pearl) of Dyersville; and a sister, Marie Mormann of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1980; two sons, Thomas in 1970 and Donald Recker in 2002; and two brothers, Raymond and Gilbert Recker.
