SOLDIER'S BODY DUE THURSDAY
S-Sgt. Charles Heiderscheit Killed on Okinawa

The body of S-Sgt. Charles M. Heiderscheit, who was killed on April 19, 1945, at the age of 27, in action on Okinawa island, will arrive in Dubuque Thursday afternoon. S-Sgt. Heiderscheit lived at 754 W. Fifth Street.

Friends may call at the Didesch funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. Services will be Friday from the funeral home to St. Patrick's Church, with mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The American Legion will conduct military services.

He was born Jan, 7, 1918, at Holy Cross, the son of John P. and Florence Roe Heiderscheit. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Holy Name society. he was educated at Holy Cross School.

He joined the army in 1941.

Surviving are the parents, of Dubuque, nine sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Agnes) Klass, Mrs. Arnold (Dorothy) Crawford, Mrs. Merlan (Virginia) Saylor, Mrs. Donald (Janette) Dunne, Mrs. Gerald (Clara) Dolter, Mrs. John (Rosemary) Winner and Misses Julia, Hazel and Norma Heiderscheit, all of Dubuque; five brothers, John Jr., of Dubuque, Frank, of Lansing, Ia., Harold of Holy Cross, and Leonard and Leo, both of New Albin, Ia.; a grandmother, Mrs. Mary E. Heiderscheit, of Dubuque; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Members of the Holy Name society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Didesch Funeral Home to recite the rosary.
