Anna Jane Reed, 86, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 3460 Starlite Drive, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Earlville, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a rosary at 7 p.m.

She was a teacher in rural Iowa, Fulton Elementary School, Jefferson Junior High School, Hempstead High School, Loras College and graduate school at Catholic University. She retired in 1982.

She was born on March 1, 1917, in rural Delhi, Iowa, daughter of Bert and Mary (Cavanaugh) Thibadeau. She married Ray C. Reed on Aug. 12, 1940, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque; he passed away on Jan. 10, 1949.

She graduated from Delhi (Iowa) consolidated High School, Mount Mercy Junior College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Clarke College. She also received degrees from Catholic University of America and Loras College.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic church. She served as chairman of the church's Renew Program for three years. She served on the original Gannon Mental Health Board and the Dubuque Substance Abuse Board. She also was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Dubuque Retired Teachers Association. She was a volunteer in the Finley Hospital Surgery waiting room.

Surviving are two daughters, Connie (Richard) Cruse, of Houston, and Judy (Milton) Boyes, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Shawn Birch, Michael Boyes, Elizabeth Boyes Reeves and Suzanne Boyes Bales; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Lourine Diamond, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Doreen Thibadeau, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bertrand Thibadeau; and a sister, Yvonne Kramer.
