Mrs. Ralph (Joan Edith Saul) Rolling, 78, of 275 Princeton Place, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1925, in Dubuque, daughter of James and Hilda (Schneider) Saul. She attended St. Columbkille's Grade School, the former Immaculate Conception Academy and Clarke College, all in Dubuque.
She married Ralph Rolling on Oct. 2, 1946, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Dubuque.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, the Immaculate Conception Academy Alumnae and the Clarke College Alumni Association.
Joan loved sewing for her children. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 57 years, Ralph Rolling, of Dubuque; three daughters, Connie (Peter) Bellaver, of Dubuque, Kathy (Bill) Bartmann, of Tulsa, Okla., and Chris (Greg) Sinkey, of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Noelle Bellaver, Andrew (Sue) Bellaver, Jessica (Kory) Allsop, Meghan (Jason) Barry, Sarah (fianc, Tony Greazel) Sinkey and Michael Sinkey; and a great-granddaughter, Madeline Bellaver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William Saul.
The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you for the loving care provided by the staff of the intensive care, cardiac medical and skilled nursing units at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
